Terms of Service
These Terms are the agreement between you and the developer of Family Agreements. They describe what the app does, what it does not do, and what each side may expect from the other.
Last updated:
In short
- Family Agreements is a coordination tool for one family. It does not supervise your children and does not decide anything on your behalf.
- Points inside the app are a record of a family agreement. They are not money, cannot be cashed out, and have no value outside your family.
- The rewards themselves are given out by adults in real life. The app only records that both sides kept the agreement.
- Family Pro is bought and cancelled through Google Play, under Google's rules.
This summary is here for readability. The sections below are the binding text.
1Acceptance of these Terms
By installing or using the Family Agreements mobile application (the "App") you agree to these Terms of Service (the "Terms"). If you do not agree with them, please do not use the App.
The App is developed and operated by an independent developer, suxlv2 (the "Developer"), who can be reached at [email protected].
These Terms should be read together with the Privacy Policy, which explains what information the App collects and how it is handled.
2What the service is
Family Agreements is a tool that helps the members of one family agree on everyday home routines and keep a shared record of them: tasks, their completion, points and rewards the family defined itself.
The App supports a conversation inside a family. It does not replace parental judgement, does not supervise children, does not evaluate them, and does not give educational, psychological, medical or legal advice.
The App is not:
- a child-monitoring or location-tracking service
- a payment service, a wallet, or a way to store or transfer anything of monetary value
- a social network — there is no way to contact, see or be seen by anyone outside your own family
- a substitute for supervision by a parent or legal guardian
3Accounts and eligibility
An adult account is created with an email address by a person who has the legal capacity to enter into this agreement in their country of residence. If your local law sets a minimum age for that, you confirm that you meet it.
You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure, and for everything done through it. If you believe someone else has gained access to your account, contact the Developer.
One adult account creates one family space. Everything created inside a family space is visible only to the members of that family.
4Child profiles and parental responsibility
Child profiles are created and managed by an adult member of the family. By creating a child profile you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of that child, or that you act with their permission.
A child signs in by scanning a QR code shown by an adult. The App does not ask a child for an email address, a phone number or access to contacts, and does not collect external contact details for children.
As the adult, you decide which tasks appear, what they are worth, which rewards exist and what they cost. You remain responsible for whether these agreements are appropriate for your child, and for handing over the rewards you promised.
5Points and rewards
Points are an internal record of an agreement inside a single family. They are created and spent according to rules set by the adults in that family.
Points:
- have no monetary value and are not a currency, a security, or a form of credit
- cannot be bought, sold, exchanged for money, refunded or withdrawn
- cannot be transferred between families
- carry no value or meaning outside the family that created them
The App does not issue, hold or deliver rewards. A reward is handed over by an adult in real life; the App only records that a request was made and that the family considered the agreement kept.
The Developer is not a party to the agreements a family makes between its own members, and does not enforce them.
6Family Pro subscription
The App is free to use. Family Pro is an optional paid subscription that raises certain limits and unlocks additional capabilities, as described on the Family Pro page.
Family Pro is sold through Google Play. Payment, renewal, price changes, cancellation and refunds are handled by Google under the Google Play terms; the App neither processes payments nor stores payment details.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time in Google Play → Subscriptions; access continues until the end of the period you already paid for.
A Family Pro subscription applies to the family space it was activated in, and takes effect for every member of that family.
If a subscription ends, the family space and its data remain. Capabilities that require Pro stop being available, and content created under Pro may become read-only where a free-tier limit would otherwise be exceeded.
7Acceptable use
When using the App, you agree not to:
- use it to harass, humiliate, coerce or punish a child, or in any way that harms a member of your family
- create profiles for people who have not agreed to take part, or impersonate someone else
- attempt to access another family's data, or to bypass the roles and permissions built into the App
- interfere with the service, its servers or its network — including automated access, scraping, or load that degrades the service for others
- reverse engineer, decompile or modify the App, except where such a restriction is prohibited by applicable law
- use the App for anything unlawful in your jurisdiction
8Content you create
Task titles, reward names, profile names and other text you enter remain yours. The Developer does not claim ownership of them and does not use them for advertising.
You grant the Developer only the permission technically necessary to run the service: to store this content, to show it to the members of your family, and to back it up.
You are responsible for what you enter — including making sure it is appropriate for the children who will read it.
9Availability and changes
The App is offered as it is, and is developed by one person. Features may be added, changed or removed, and the service may be unavailable during maintenance, incidents or circumstances outside the Developer's control.
The Developer aims to give advance notice of changes that meaningfully reduce what the App can do, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
The App requires an internet connection. Access to the internet, and any costs of it, are yours.
10Suspension and termination
You may stop using the App at any time and request deletion of your account, as described below.
The Developer may suspend or terminate access to an account that breaches these Terms, that endangers the service or its users, or where required by law. Where circumstances allow, notice will be given first.
11Account deletion
You may request deletion of your account and the associated family data by writing to [email protected] from the address the account is registered to. After verification the data will be removed from the system.
Deleting the account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel it separately in Google Play → Subscriptions.
Data retention is described in the Privacy Policy.
12Intellectual property
The App, its name, logo, design, texts and source code belong to the Developer and are protected by copyright and other applicable law.
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the App for your own family's purposes. No other rights are granted.
13Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
The Developer does not warrant that using the App will change a child's behaviour, improve family routines, or produce any particular outcome.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law in your country.
14Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, for lost data, or for decisions made inside a family on the basis of information shown in the App.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
These limits do not apply to liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or to any liability that cannot be limited by law.
15Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated as the App develops. The current version is always published at family-agreements.app/terms, with the date of the last update at the top of the page.
If a change materially affects your rights, reasonable notice will be given — in the App, or by email to the address on the account. Continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
